COVID has caused a decline in physical activity and an increase in fall risk for seniors, according to research reported by the University of Michigan. Mobility declined 25% in the first 10 months of the pandemic, and more than 1/3 of older adults polled now have a fear of falling.

The poll found that 25% of older adults experienced a fall between the start of the pandemic in March 2020 and January 2021, when the poll was conducted. Forty percent of those who experienced a fall had more than one fall during this period.
